Welcome to the new Winding Down series, where artists and music lovers share what they’re listening to after a long day.
Independent artist SISI reveals her go-to Spotify playlists and some taster tracks from each in the first instalment of the Winding Down series.
Like a lot of people, I spend time curating playlists to fit my (many) moods. Here are just a few of my go-to playlists when I have had a busy day (or night) and just want to eat ramen in the candlelight and curl up with a glass of wine.
Rain against the glass – melancholy, cosy
When I am curled up with said glass of wine, this playlist is perfect for when it’s raining and it is hammering against the window – hence the title. Relaxing and a bit melancholic. Think Bon Iver, Keaton Henson and Ben Howard.
Taster songs on this playlist:
- Someone New – BANKS
- Change It All – Harrison Storm
- Fire Escape – Foster The People
- Promise – Ben Howard
4am comedown – moody, dark
A different type of ‘winding down’ – imagine you have just come home after a wild night out with your friends. You’re a bit drunk, exhausted and alone. Maybe you’re putting together a late-night snack, or brushing your teeth and getting ready to fall into bed. These are the songs I put on when I find myself in these exact situations.
Taster songs on this playlist:
- Search & Rescue – Drake
- Right for You – Lil Silva, BANKS
- Florence – Loyle Carner, kwes.
- Forbidden Fruit – CAiRO
Lakeside summer – chill, good vibes
Not every ‘wind-down’ playlist has to be tinged with sadness, played while you gaze longingly out of the window. I’m making this playlist with the image of being sprawled on a towel in peak summer next to the lake near my house. I’m chilling there with my friends, local cider in hand. Life is good.
Taster songs on this playlist:
- 1992 – Rejjie Snow, Loyle Carner
- It Is What It Is – Blood Orange
- Uncatena – Sylvan Esso
- Powders – alt-J
