Sometimes I feel as though I’ve fallen into a music rut – my regular rotation just isn’t working for me anymore and I struggle to find anything new. However, I’ve started tracking songs that I discover and love in a single month and the result is an entire album’s worth of music, across an array of genres. What I think of as a rut in fact isn’t a rut at all. What a revelation!

And, of course, because I feel the need to share absolutely everything and bite mag has become my primary source of doing just that, I’m back again to grace your screens with my findings. If you’re feeling similarly uninspired on the music front, have a listen to my April favourites.

French Press‘ – Rolling Blackouts Coastal Fever

Courtesy of friend and fellow bite mag writer Millie Ward, who introduced me to this track on 3 April. Kicked the month off nicely.

Dimensions‘ – Arcade Fire, Owen Pallett

Not sure how I came across this one – I have a feeling it was, rather embarrassingly, via Instagram reels. It’s sad, nostalgic, hopeful and uplifting all at the same time, which is quite an impressive feat, if you ask me (you didn’t).

Leader of the Pack‘ – Wunderhorse

Already a big fan of ‘Arizona’, I decided to explore their discography in a little more depth.

Something in the Orange‘ – Zach Bryan

Again, unsure how this one came across my desk, but it’s possible it was on one of my Spotify blends or daylists.

Jungle – 2019 Version‘ – Somebody’s Child

Please see above so I don’t have to repeat myself.

Orange Blossoms‘ – GoldFord

Please see above so you don’t have to watch me repeat myself.

Seoul City‘ – JENNIE

I was watching videos from Coachella 2025 and something about this track immediately drew my attention. I also like that it’s about Seoul, a city I will be visiting later this year. If I wasn’t already excited…

Nervous‘ – Coastals

Another Millie Ward recommendation. I like to think we’re on a similar wavelength sonically – or she just knows me exceptionally well. Probably the latter, she is much cooler than me.

Bullet and a Target‘ – Citizen Cope

This was the end credits song of The Sentinel (2006), a film I watched over Easter because it starred Kiefer Sutherland and I was hoping it would be like Designated Survivor. It kinda was, I guess.

better than me‘ – Déyyess

Another artist of which I was already a fan (‘Bored Again’ is my favourite), and this is her newest release. It’s fun.

Earth Is A Black Hole‘ – Teenage Wrist

Teenage Wrist’s song ‘Stella’ from the same album is one of those tracks that I would pay money to hear for the first time again. I remember exactly where I was and what I was doing when I heard it.

When I was writing last week’s article compiling a list of underrated artists, I shuffled the band’s discography and kept returning to this track. It is incredible and I have had it on repeat for the last seven days.

Anthems For A Seventeen Year-Old Girl‘ – Maggie Rogers, Sylvan Esso

Huge Sylvan Esso fan. Huge. Alas, I only know two people who also like them, and they both happen to be called Sam.

Sam Two sent this to me via WhatsApp (no message, just vibes) as it’s a fresh release, and naturally I was gassed. I then forwarded it onto Sam One (again, no message – he thought I was insinuating that he was in fact a 17-year-old girl. I wasn’t, I swear).
