Alexa, play ‘Cry to me’ by Solomon Burke.
As I watched Dirty Dancing for the 34th time, I started thinking about what I want to experience with love in my life. If you’ve read my Valentine’s Day article, you’ll know I wistfully observe romance and absolutely love it.

My self-described romantic self has thus let her mind wander once again and I think about all of the things I have hoped for while seeing people. I never share these with friends or anyone outside of my own brain because #cringe, but you don’t know me and I don’t know you, so here we bloody go.
- I want someone to spontaneously knock on my door without me knowing they’re coming and I want a surprise visit. Any delivery items accompanying them would be lovely but a good wine, dicking down or flowers would be lovely x not picky x
- While we’re on the topic, I want someone to turn up at my house when I don’t feel well, even though I’ve told them they don’t have to.
- I want someone to pick me up from the airport, with a lil homemade sign.
- I want to be kissed in the middle of King’s Cross like nobody’s watching.
- I want to catch eyes with my luva across the room at a party and stare at each other like we have a secret.
- I want to have that anticipation just before a kiss, knowing it’s about to happen.
- I want them to gaze into my eyes, their mouth wide open while I wait to hear what they’re about to say.
- I want cringe good night messages and good morning ones.
- I want to not wear underwear and only my partner knows, all night long.
- I want to be pulled closer by the waist in a crowded bar as I’m weaving my way through.
- I want to be kissed goodbye at the front door and then kissed again because neither of us wants to leave the other.
- I want to dance together in the kitchen when the radio is banging a tune.
- I want someone to take their shoes off for me because my feet hurt from wearing those gorgeous, agonising highest heels yet again.
- I want someone to tell their friends about me when I’m not there, and then hear from the friends that this has happened.
- I want to be taken somewhere without being told where we’re going and see where the night takes us.
- I want to throw my pants off my balcony for them to catch.
- I want to be kissed in the rain, even if it ruins my hair (not after a bouncy blow though, I have to be somewhat realistic)
- I want to sit on the same side of the table in a restaurant even though there are perfectly good seats opposite.
- I want to stay in bed on a Sunday and enjoy being between those sheets. Maybe a pastry could feature, a few cups of tea.
- I want a relationship that makes me embarrassingly giddy.
- I want a level of romance that makes me CRINGE because I’ve become one of those relationship people.
Okay signing off now, the girls that get it, get it xx
